Blessings For Brigid And The Trees

Imbolc blessings for Brigid and the Trees

Blessings For Brigid

Blessings for the honey tongued one, whose sylvan speech brings new life, whose words are silver baskets carrying hopes and dreams and love. We see you, standing tall, your head dressed in the blazing lights of the stars, our guide away from the worlds’ darkness into the glades and groves of home.

We see you dancing in the fires of transformation, smoke spiralling messages out into the air, scattering ashes leaving messages and touches of soot bringing life to bare earth. Dancing in the fire and divining in the dust.

We see you favouring fortune, harbinger of life and light, emerging from cold winters’ grip, your skirts the green grass from whence flowers bloom in your wake.

Blessings on the truth teller, and spell caster. May you always be kissed with sweetness and light. May the many coloured rainbow always garland your eyes as the flowers garland your skirts.

Imbolc Tree Blessing

Blessings on the trees as they wake up, their sap rising and the pollen of the earliest catkins bless the noses of those who wander and wonder in their hope and dreaming. The golden pollen a bright dusting on the nose of inspiration. Not for nothing does the hazel produce the nuts eaten by the salmon of wisdom. Moon white birch is burnt upon the hearth. The moon-night of winter is transformed into the fiery sun of spring and summer. We thank the trees for their gifts of light, warmth, shelter and food over the winter. We thank them for the bounties yet to come.

Tree Prayer

May we humans remember gratitude in these cold and icy days and may we always have a warm fire to come home to. Let us remember the boughs that provide us shelter and the limbs that make us warm. May humans and trees live together, each a gift to the other. May we be generous in our tree planting and tender in our care of them. May humans learn to stick to the paths so they don’t crush the newly emerging shoots of the woodland plants and flowers.
