The #trees have been whispering. They have noticed the lengthening days stretching out imperceptibly, slowly pushing the darks’ domain to the edges of the sky. Jack Frost still builds his sparkling kingdom each night. His icy jewels disappearing at a touch from Dawns slender fingers. It’s a love affair that humans stumble upon just as the lovers are saying good bye to each other, their words the vapour spiralling up from fences and hedges....
The audio #treeteaching blog with Audio #forestbathing #meditation are here:
Despite the frost, the wind, the mud, the dark the trees slowly stretch. Look there … tiny blooms balanced on delicate twigs. Tiny balls of colour, buds balancing waiting to open.
Slowly they unwrap themselves like tiny gifts to the #presentmoment. Petalled wonders opening; one, two, three, four, five … perfect roundels circling a small centre. Dancing dots of pollen and at the heart a sticky centre for receiving pollen from visiting insects.
The flowers so exposed, out on a limb they sit. Open to the wind, and the rain and the storms and the cold. Pretty and pink against dark grey clouds and rainswept, windswept trunks. But here, against the green grass, the colour combination feels very satisfying. #Spring is coming.
How extraordinary that in seemingly such a vulnerable position they should give so generously of themselves.
Then, as the wind blows, the first tiny flutters of pink sink to the ground. Little drops of colour on the grass. As I stand there the sky lightens and many hundreds of tiny flowers above kiss the blue sky.
A Light Exists In Spring by Emily Dickinson
A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period –
When March is scarcely here
A Colour stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.
It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.
Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay –
A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.
